A Family Boat, A Family Class

Welcome to the Y-Flyer Class homepage. We’re glad you found us! Sailing our “ironing boards” is what we do. It’s how we have fun at home and around the country. We are a family class and it is, most definitely, a family boat. Perfect for husbands and wives, fathers and mothers, sons and daughters, brothers and sisters, and best friends—we’ve got them all. The Y-Flyer is an 18’ fun machine. It’s an easy-to-manage day sailor or a fast tactical racing boat. We sail all over the U.S. and Canada, but primarily in the Midwest and Southeast regions of the US; however, it is worth mentioning that one of our most active and fun loving fleets is in the New England area. If you just bought a Y-Flyer, as our way of congratulating you we offer you a one year membership to our Class Association. FREE Begin your new adventure with us! We have contacts and resources that will be very helpful to you and your Y. If you’re new to Y-Flyers please browse around our web site and check us out. Learn why we love the Y and why we know you will, too. For the do-it-yourselfer check out our plans for homemade wooden boats Under the Boats tab. These stiff, fast hulls are made with care and love. Truly works of art. If you have the knack and the desire, you can build your own. We have the plans and can provide construction support along the way. Want more? Have a specific question or maybe a general one you don’t see the answer to here? Please go to the Contacts tab and leave a message for us. Or contact the Area VP for your area and we will see to it that you get an answer. The sailors that make up the American Y Flyer Sailing Association are the answer to the question: Y sail a Y?
